shanting is a personal Google Drive backup integration operated by the owner of shanting.cloud. Its desktop OAuth client is named Family Backup.
The integration uses rclone on an operator-controlled computer to synchronize selected private backup files with Google Drive, check stored files, and download them for recovery.
Why Google access is needed
Google authorization lets the installed backup client manage files in the configured backup location. The granted Drive permission may be broader than that folder; the folder is a workflow setting, not a Google-enforced permission boundary.
Backup contents sent through the configured rclone crypt remote are encrypted before upload. Restoring them requires the separately held encryption credentials.
For the operator’s own use
This is a personal integration, not a public backup service. There is no public registration or Google sign-in on this website, and visitors cannot upload or retrieve backups here.
